Why it matters
Corrosion inside radiators, pipes and joints creates sludge that blocks water flow, reduces efficiency and pushes up energy bills. Filters catch loose debris, but only a chemical flush removes sludge and rust that's settled into the pipework and radiators.
A clean system can let radiators produce up to 47% more heat for the same energy use — and it protects new boilers, since 60% of first-year boiler breakdowns are caused by sludge. Fitting a new boiler on top of a dirty system just means the sludge damages it too.
